About

About

Risk is a key consideration in every decision made while operating a business.  Whether creating a partnership, launching a new product/service, or entering into a contract impacts its legal standing, a business must have a complete understanding of these legal issues and their implications for the ownership model, tax liabilities, and more.  Most importantly, a company must have adequate controls and measures in place to address its specific legal issues. Otherwise, a business policy is hollow without supporting, substantive measures to ensure its proper execution.

No matter what industry you're in, starting a new business can be challenging. There are many factors to consider that can delay or harm your business's growth and success if handled improperly, including the following:

  • Business planning: Inadequate planning can result in delays, decreased productivity, and profit loss. Creating a detailed business plan with clear objectives can facilitate better planning.

  • Financial management: Many startups operate on a small budget, and poor financial planning is one of the biggest reasons they fail. Understanding your business' finances can help with appropriate product pricing and unnecessary expenditures to increase profit and prevent loss.

  • Leadership: Strong leadership is vital to achieving business goals, motivating employees, and maintaining a loyal customer base. It's essential to have a clear company mission with realistic short- and long-term goals to follow.

Helping New Companies Get Started

Hiring a business attorney with extensive experience can ease the business formation process and help you get a head start in growing your company. There are numerous tasks our business law experts can assist with.

Entity Selection and Structuring

How you structure your business can significantly impact its growth and success. We can help you build a strong foundation by selecting the proper entity structure for your company's needs and formulating founding documents detailing its mission, goals, principles, and operation practices.

Funding

Making smart financial decisions from the start can drastically increase your company's chance of survival. Our business consultants can identify available funding opportunities and negotiate terms of loan agreements and other financial documents. Additionally, we can assist with cash and asset protection.

Regulatory Law

Get started on the right foot with the government and other regulatory bodies by ensuring that your company is working within the operational limits in place. Our team can assist your organization in navigating the ins and outs of a shifting regulatory landscape, maintaining compliance, and avoiding fines or other regulatory actions.

How a Business Lawyer Can Benefit Existing Companies

Existing businesses also face unique, complex situations that can be difficult to navigate without guidance. We help companies overcome the following hurdles and achieve longevity.

  • Mergers and acquisitions: Whether you're planning on purchasing or merging with another company, we assist with the transaction and ensure proper documentation is obtained and filed.

  • Intellectual property: We can help protect and maximize the value of your business's intellectual property by documenting its concepts, applying for trademark status, and registering all assets.

  • Contracts and transactions: To prevent business fraud and keep your company safe, we can review and provide guidance on all commercial transactions, contracts, and warranties before they are finalized.

  • Compliance: Meeting state, federal, and industry requirements is crucial to company success but also a lot to balance. We can ensure business compliance with appropriate updates and documentation as your company navigates ongoing regulatory changes.

  • Litigation: There are many types of business litigation your company may face, including breach of contract, class action lawsuits, or intellectual property rights. We can determine the best solution to protect your business.

For New Companies, a Business Attorney is Crucial

A business lawyer can assist new companies with a variety of matters, from developing high-quality contracts to complying with tax law. They can help get your business off the ground by avoiding risky situations and making well-informed decisions regarding registration and licensing.

Hiring a business attorney can also save you money and legal trouble. For example, choosing the wrong business entity can affect your legal responsibilities and liability as an entrepreneur. Additionally, different entities require their own financial and taxation procedures. A business lawyer can provide education and guidance on each entity, ensuring you select the best one for your company's needs.

Working with a business lawyer is more than just a one-and-done deal. Your attorney can be there to help anytime you need to create a contract, copyright a new product, and purchase or lease office space, providing peace of mind whenever a new change or obstacle emerges.
